From the Secretary
Here's an update to the Rotary calendar for May which I distributed recently.
May 4 - We had the Partners' Dinner at Twenty 20 as a replacement meeting due to the LV Express deferrment.
May 11 - A literary evening with the reknowned author Len Cairns.
May 18 - Reports and Updates
May 25 - 6.00 at Moe Library with Graham Goulding (Moe Historiacal Society), 7.00 at Moe Hotel for Dinner.
NB: Please alter your calendars.
LV Express Supplement - "10 Years and Counting"
This 28 page insert from the 29 April Express celebrated the success of local businesses and community entities.
Groups had the opportunity to highlight their accomplishments across 10, 20+, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and even 100+ years.
Clearly the highlight was the half page promotion on Page 25 featuring the Rotary Club of Moe.
Good for you if you saw it last week.
If not, sort through your old newspapers, dig it out, and enjoy the various articles.
I'm sure that Maureen would appreciate your feedback. You may recall that we chose this option as a means of promoting Rotary together with pushing the value of membership.
The Rotary Challenge:
Rotary has attracted leaders, innovators and humanitarians from around the world.
Here are a few well known figures connected to Rotary and what they are known for.
1. Which US President and Rotary member supported global humanitarian and health initiatives including polio eradication.?
2. Which technology pioneer partnered with Rotary to significantly increase funding for the fight against polio?
3. This internationally recognised philanthropist and technology leader has supported global health and education initiatives and has addressed Rotary conventions?
4. Which Australian Prime Minister was also a Rotarian before he entered national politics.
Answers at Monday night's meeting.
